Rays Beat Mets To Take Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (16-18) defeated the New York Mets (16-17) 3-1 on Saturday night at Tropicana Field. With the win, Rays manager Kevin Cash won his 755th career game for the Rays, surpassing Joe Maddon for the most managerial wins in franchise history.

The teams traded runs in the first, including Isaac Paredes hitting a RBI single to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the frame. That would remain the score until the eighth inning, before the Rays accepted two bases loaded walks to make it 3-1.

Zack Littell allowed one earned run on six hits in six innings of work in which he struck out seven and walked none. Jason Adam (2-0, 1.69) got the win out of the bullpen after getting a scoreless eighth inning - Phil Maton earned his first save of the year thanks to a scoreless ninth.

The Rays now look to sweep the Mets in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting the This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
